Located in Sonoma, CA, this Vineyard has a deeply rooted history in our valley, even before our proprietor Bill Price purchased it in 1997. Available now to our club members is our 2022 Casteñada Rosé. There are so many things we love about this wine – from its origin story to its beautiful bottling to its “sunshine-in-a-glass” taste – but one of our favorite features is the process of how we make it. When translated from French, the saignée method is a winemaking technique that means “to bleed.” While this approach is most often used in red wine to heighten concentration, we use it to enhance our rosé. ⁠

Step 1: All the Rhône varieties are placed in our converted dairy tank fermenter. We drain the juice from the fermenter to pull a hint of red coloring.⁠
⁠
Step 2: The grape material settles out overnight to allow the clear juice to separate and then is pumped to its selected fermentation vessel.⁠
⁠
Step 3: The tank slowly ferments over a 30-day period until dry - the sugar from the grapes has been completely converted to alcohol during the fermentation process.⁠
⁠
Step 4: The juice changes to soft pink, expressing watermelon and citrus blossom aromas. After 2 months, it is ready for bottling. ⁠
