Carl was lucky enough to have been raised in the famed Russian River Valley, surrounded by the wine industry. After graduating with a Biology degree from the UC Berkeley, he worked at UCSF for five years coordinating clinical trials of novel therapeutics for cancer patients. While the science and personal relationships were rewarding, Carl recognized his passion for farming and the craft of winemaking, and thus, the dream was born.
After working several harvests both domestically and internationally, Carl pursued a Master’s Degree in Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis. He headed to Marcassin Wines after graduating, where he honed his passion for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Carl joined Three Sticks in May 2017 and has entertained the cellar with his jokes and jams ever since.
